what do you do if you are unlucky?

Some people are born lucky.

Some people go through lucky and unlucky phases.

Some people always seem to draw the short straw.

Anecdotally (though anecdotal evidence is the mulch of hard science) I have observed over many years that lucky people are risk takers. Not silly 'playing chicken' risks but cool calculated risks. I am reminded today of an obscure samurai quotation (mentioned in several earlier posts including 'lazy workaholic'), that, "in a 50/50 life and death situation the samurai chooses death". I think this really means, or can equally mean, that having weighed up the odds of two almost equally attractive options you choose the riskier of the two. Many caveats of course, but worth bearing in mind.
