Herman Kahn, the man who 'thought the unthinkable' and planned America's nuclear strike plan (and was supposed to be one source of inspiration for Dr Strangelove) was also a canny futurologist. His 1980 book 'The Coming Boom' is strikingly accurate about the surge in world growth (and the reaction to it) from 1980 until now. He predicts the internet almost casually- as others had- his contribition was to see what an impact it would have on all areas of economic life.
